Well here we are again. Every time I post a blog I tell myself that I am going to start doing it regularly, but then months fly by and I finally get around to it. Maybe when we finally have internet at our house I will do it.
Speaking of houses, Joel and I are in the process of buying a duplex. It has been so exciting and scary at the same time. We are planning to live in one side and rent out the other. We will do this for about two years and then move out while renting both sides. The duplex seems perfect for us. It is located on Manchaca near Slaughter. I'm so excited to be living closer to my parents( I know I was only like 20 minutes away to begin with). ;) Anyway, we had the duplex inspected and found out that all of the siding needs to be replaced. WE had my dad put in a bid for it (since he is a contractor), but now we are waiting to see what the seller is going to do. Right now the options are the seller fixes it, the seller lowers the price and we fix it, or we walk away. We've heard the seller is in a money bind because he has over-invested and is trying to get rid of properties, but because of that he doesn't have much wiggle room to lower the price. We know that God knows the outcome and are trusting that he will help us make the right decision.
Apparently for me one life changing event(buying the duplex) isn't enough for me. On top of that I started a brand new job two weeks ago. I am teaching prek at Bannockburn Christian Academy this year. I have 9 kids in my class and love each and every one of them. They are so precious and funny. I am loving this age and the school I'm at. Don't get me wrong, it has definitely been an adjustment after coming from 4th grade. After the first day of school, I sat down and thought "what am I doing?" But then I went into day 2 and knew this is where God wanted me. It was a night and day change between day 1 and day 2. After talking tomany teachers, I'm learning this is a common thing. Although I love every second of it, I do come home exhausted. The other night I fell asleep at 8:00pm. I'm ready for my body to get used to my new routine.
Ok well I will leave you with a short dialogue that happened the other day in my classroom:
Mrs Cowen: "The Trinity has 3 parts. We know one part is the Father, the second is the Son, but does anyone know the third part?"
Anya raises her hand.
Mrs. Cowen: "Yes, Anya?"
Anya: "Shrek?"
