Jenny Childress introduced me to this great book called Body-for-LIFE for Women. I'm half way through and am loving it. Here are a few things I've learned:
-Rule of Reverse Expectations: Anticipate that there will be obstacles in your path. When you encounter them, embrace them as opportunities to learn to stay the course with your eating and training. This is a good rule of thumb for life too....treat obstacles as opportunities.
-Keep a Mind-Mouth-Muscle Journal. Write down things that you do well each day in each category. Mind...thinking positively and believing in yourself. Mouth...record what you eat. Muscle-write down your exercises for the day.
-You must reward yourself along the way as you achieve small goals you have set for yourself.
-Getting healthy isn't just about eating right and exercising everyday, but involves your mind too and how much stress you encounter.
-Women have MUCH different needs then men. We secrete less serotonin than men do, making us more vulnerable to depression, mood disorders, and overeating. The risk of lung cancer in women who smoke is twice as much as men. More women than men die each year from heart disease. And so on...
That's some of what I've gotten out of it so far. I'm only half way through the book, so I will update more later. When I finish the book I'm going to start the 12 week program. Even though I am not on the 12 week program yet, I have started eating and exercising as you know. Today I checked my weight and I have lost 3 pounds. Woo-hoo!! Hopefully I can lose the 20 by the wedding. =)
P.S. Pray for my aunt marty-tomorrow she will be getting a blood tranfusion.
